What is Handmade Soap?
Handcrafted Soaps are made with various skin-loving vegetable oils and /or butters, plant-based ingredients, Essential Oils and many other natural ingredients, using ancient traditional methods and are usually made in small batches.
A number of oils are carefully chosen according to their beneficial properties and blended when making soap by hand to ensure that the skin is left feeling soft and that the soap is sufficiently hard whilst at the same time bubbly. Each type of oil has its own qualities and it is this that makes a handmade soap slightly different from another handmade soap.
Handmade soaps also have a high Glycerine content - Glycerine is a neutral, sweet-tasting, colourless emollient and when mixed with water it will soften and moisturise your skin. It has a natural antiseptic quality and because it is so gentle it is especially good for tender skin and children. Glycerine is not added to soap, it is a natural by-product of the soap making process and while commercial manufacturers remove the Glycerine for use in their more expensive lotions and creams as well as other industries, handcrafted soap retains Glycerine in each and every bar.
What is the difference between a regular soap and a Natural Handmade Soap?
A natural handmade soap is organic and natural. It is made by a chemical reaction between water, lye and oil.
Commercial Soaps are mass-produced and cannot be considered as soaps at all. Although we refer to them as soaps, regular soap is really a form of detergent. Products that are identified as detergents contain such ingredients as petroleum by-products. Regular soap is created using mass product manufacturing methods. The ingredients can include: DEA, Isopropyl Alcohol, BHT, Triclosan, Alkali etc. These chemicals can be source of skin irritation that can result in dry, itchy, and flaky skin. Other unhealthy ingredients that can be found in regular soaps include: aluminium, formaldehyde, butyl, ethyl, methyl, and propyl parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, synthetic colorants, synthetic fragrances, and toluene. Continual use of chemical loaded products will cause the body to store the chemicals in the body fat. This build-up of toxins in the body can lead to illnesses such as cancer and various other health disorders.

Further, the synthetic ingredients that the leading brands are made from do not easily break-down once they’ve gone down the drain and stay in the environment for an extended time.
